I2P Weekly Update, October 13th, 2018

Post by sadie »

This was a busy week!

We have new stickers, which we will be bringing to 35c3. At this time it looks as if most of the I2P dev team will be returning to Leipzig in December. We are counting down the days and look forward to seeing everyone.

We were asked earlier in the week why we do not do advertising on Torrenting sites.

I2P is a generic communications tool. We bundle the bit torrent client because it is an efficient way to transfer large files. We are aware that some users will choose to infringe on copyright, but if we advertise on torrent sites that allow copyrighted material, we expose the project to an accusation of “vicarious infringement”

OS X Launcher Alpha: 0.9.37

LS2/ NTCP2

The LS2 spec is wrapping up and coding and debugging has begun.
For the 40% of the net that have updated to 0.9.37 with NTCP2 Noise Protocol things are running smoothly.

Rebranding/ Design

Thanks to everyone who completed Alex’s survey. The deadline was Thursday, and we have began going through our responses. Our internal team have been sharing their vision and thoughts on the future of the project as well. You can read some of Villain’s thoughts here: https://villainov.gitlab.io/blog/my-vis ... oject.html

Last night Alex began turning those results into the beginning of design choices on Twitch. We have new fonts chosen for consideration, and a colour palette that is going to be a challenge.
In the attempt to connect with others and access information while navigating issues around disclosure and concealment in our online lives, it seems that both our community and internal team value the same things. We use I2P because privacy, anonymity and freedom are important to us.
