Love Live The Internet! Our Quick Response to State Sponsored Censorship
Last week in Russia, local ISP's started blocking Telegram. It was a mess since Telegram, like many others, routes their traffic through U.S cloud services. In the attempt to censor Telegram because they would not hand over their encryption keys to the Russian government, 15.8 million IPs on Amazon and Google's cloud platforms were blocked.*
On April 17th, the EFF tweeted "The blocking and filtering by nation states of the global Internet is a violation of Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. It's also impossible to do without unexpected collateral damage."

The same day, I2P developer Mikal began posting about his work setting up resources and socks proxies to help Telegram on Twitter:
" I've worked all day improving outproxy to handle Telegram when you're in RU even if blocked multiple darknet tunnels. Sharing with my RU friends so they are connected just fine to telegram as of this moment :)"

On April 19th Mikal published his blog post officially announcing I2P Telegram Bundle v0.1alpha

"The I2P outproxy should be able to reach the whole internet - however, it's many using it. But we always work to improve performance, and I know more people are setting up their own outproxies. So in the end, I2P seems like a good solution here :)"
