HowTo setup a new Outproxy as a user to be used

Post by echelon »

Hi

Short guide for users to include a new/different Outproxy:
1. do run I2P
2. go to http://127.0.0.1:7657/i2ptunnelmgr
3. choose the I2P HTTP PROXY tunnel setup
4. In the field Outproxies do enter a new outproxy name, B32, seperated with comma
5. same for the SSL Outproxies field
6. save tunnel config
7. go to (I2P HTTPS PROXY)
8. add/replace the address in the Outproxies field
9. save config
10. If you do use I2P PetNames like false.i2p - you need to have the resolution in your local addressbook first. Do open the addressbook on http://127.0.0.1:7657/dns and add the PetName and b64 address to the master/private/published addressbook.
10.a. if the Outproxy registered itself on stats.i2p or inr.i2p addressbook service, you may get that entry via subscription
10.b. or enter the petname of the Outproxy in Browser with i2p proxy setup and you may use a helper link to enter the Outproxy into your addressbook.

done.

I think i2p can consider providing a suite for other organization like psiphon deployingy, act as a plugin like tor's bridge(but i2p can get effects too, because node is the blood of i2p, every use i2p to connect to other service will promote i2p) , corporate with others. hops set at least 1, should not be more.

Then host a i2p server for receiving these outproxy b32 site, and choose the one with less connection, seed to user's client tunnels.

User's HTTP tunnel's outproxy should be changed the site which host above. or just creat a new tunnel bundled with 1 hop, it is for relay to other anti-censorship, low anonymity is enough.

With this, i2p can get more outproxy, and user don't have to creat several tunnels for several outproxy, and no exit node illegal problem.

Hi

To be honest most of the guidance in this project is out dated or right in completely not follow up way.
Some setup like pool request from email server it postman is ridiculous slow as well.

Here is my scenario:
I don't like to use your proxies for clearnet connection because they are useless. But I setup a high bandwidth routerfor your protocol and can accept this kind of performance to i2p network.
I don't like to jump between browsers to use different proxies for i2p and clearnet.
I have my own clearnet proxy.
How I can implement it in one browser to get performance in both networks?

I use a Firefox plugin called "FoxyProxy" which does dynamic switching between proxies based on url pattern. It's easy to configure.

Thank you for your reply,

This is not what I mean
If you like to depend inside the encrypted network and use commercial plugins to your browser ? Imagine scenario plugin is just sending performance statistic. I think enough to make you think about it : don't do it inside i2p. No point

Hi!

If you start with this, lets go on:
- why do you use a commercial hardware?
- why do you use a commercial operating system?
- why do you use a commercial browser?

That are all points which are not under your control, so if you are such strict with a well known plugin, you should consider every single part and you must come to the point at which using I2P, Tor,... is useless.

Woo you update your guide so drastically.
Simple question
How to setup different proxies for eepsites and clearnet?
Because solution you provide through http://privacysolutions.no is not have any performance at all?
Can you update their SSL for start?
Do you fancy proxy from your plugin when you need refresh the site several times just because you know the proxy is cave man project?

Thanks in advance. Also hope that you back soon to zzz eepsite because we have nice conversation over there but looks like you get to upset about it.

Finally I'm not against or something. I believe this protocol is better then others. I can understand that performance can vary. But few things can be tuned by default. That's all.

Hi!

Ask your browser howto setup different proxies, usual use a plugin for this (as described above). It is not I2P task neither expertise.
Also I2P is not meant to use for proxy into clearnet, and the proxy is not run by I2P, it is provided by private people.
Ask those persons about the performance and all other around the proxy.
