Make I2P load balancing the traffic

Post by anonymousmaybe »

This is very important feature for the sake of eepsites, as I2P will protect the users of eepsites from DOS.

Tor has already this feature as onion balancing.

Hi

Just use multihoming.

thats not a solution similar to what i am suggesting. because we all know u can do that through multihoming/CDN.

im suggesting a load balancing through the protocol, which mean any attempt to DOS something then it will spread away and balance the traffic thus saving the eepsites/services.

Hi

A load balancer through the protocol is possible, but needs huge caches all along the path.
As delays may happen, a node needs to cache data from all transfers it routes, could went up to GBytes of size on EACH node.
Also some other deep changes to streaming lib and more are needed.

But the multihoming issues are partly addressed in ls2 process.

Btw, multihoming on 2 or more servers is load balancing in the protocol.

If Tor achieved that , i dont see why not I2P gonna have it as well in the future.

Hi

thats because Tor has a completely different routing system, which used direct tunnels, I2P splits it in different parts.
Tor does not have the issues of fragmentation over time on 4 different path through the network, e.g.
