[Solved] Can I add 2nd tracker to existing torrents?

Greetings...

I just found torrfreedom, and it's running most of the time, so I'd like to use/add - torrfreedom,
as a 2nd additional tracker, to all my torrents.

All my 20+ torrents have postman as the only tracker.
It's all I connected with, while learning/searching trackers (and torrenting!).

Can I add torrfreedom to all my current torrents - without screwing-up snark or postman???

I've learn`t postman's only option to a screw-up, is to abandon the added torrent...where
I notice torrfreedom has that special 'delete' button..!

~ I'm still i2p's 'new kid on the block'... :ugeek: I jus` wanna learn how to use it more!
Thx....

Hi

just add a second, thirs,.. tracker to the torrent, not a issue.
Each torrent created wit i2psnark alread do have a opentracker added to the torrent, or even more.

Postman e.g. just removes all non i2p trackers from the torrent.

Whew...finally figured it out!

I2PSnark
- Stopping the torrent, and deleting just the torrent file -- not the data..
- Then re-create the torrent, with the added tracker...
- Start it up -- surf to the new tracker... (existing tracker still works)
- Upload new torrent, to 2nd tracker and wait for it's addition...

Kewl ~~! :ugeek:

If you do so, imstanz, a new torrent with its own hash ID will be created. This will create a separate copy of the existing torrent and lose the connection to the existing torrent and its peers.
What you need in order to answer your question "Can I add 2nd tracker to existing torrents" is a tool that allows you to modify the original torrent file without changing the hash. This is not possible with I2PSnark.

Deleting and recreating the torrent file may or may not result in a new infohash. If you created the torrent originally, and use the same software (snark or otherwise) to make the new torrent file, it should keep the same infohash. If somebody else created the torrent file originally, it may or may not be the same... it depends on how the torrent software orders the file names, among other issues.

The safest way to do it is use a torrent file editor. We do not provide any editor, but there many many options out there, do a search, take a look. Stop the torrent, move the torrent file out of the snark directory, edit it, wait another minute, and move it back.

We've received several requests to add this capability to snark or provide a separate program, but there's so many solutions out there already it doesn't seem worth the trouble. If anybody wanted to write or adopt a program, or make a plugin, that would be nice.

Greeting 2 ya's...

I have done so, with success - using this method !
Maybe I just got lucky, but those "adjusted" torrents ARE working!

I will do this method again, on the other torrents I serve, and post results.

postman continued to serve the adjusted torrent file - the 2nd tracker picked it right up.
I'm using i2psnark, and will continue too.

yep zzz, they are my torrents - NO changes to iso (data) file, just the
torrent file adjustment.

I found no useful help searching, in fact - mostly I got, "you can't do that!", statements.
But I didn't search for a torrent file editor :|

I'll repeat the process with my other torrents, and even try one that I didn't create - and post my results here.

I hear what you both are saying, thanks for your reply's!
