Excuse me if I'm skipped over where it was mentioned in the documentation, but can someone please tell this new I2P user how address helpers are created?

Is there a way to run Bote standalone rather than as a plugin for Java I2P client? I much prefer using i2pd but that leaves me unable to use Bote and unable to contribute my bandwidth to its peering.
